CULTURAMA

Putting community arts

on the map.

Culturama is a group of creatives experimenting with togetherness — meeting the great need for community in these turbulent times through public art, story, and collective imagination.

what we are

We are artists, educators, and community members who believe that liberation begins with imagination. Culturama is a community-led cultural practice rooted in MacArthur Park and the San Fernando Valley — using murals, story circles, healing workshops, and collaborative builds to help neighborhoods dream and design the future of Los Angeles together.

The work is grounded in Mayan and Toltec ancestral lineage and a simple truth: people cannot imagine new futures while living in survival mode. So we start with care, and we build from there.

“We have inherited a culture of separation. We are building a culture of connection — and we have always been building it.”

Artfull Marlené, Founder

how it works

01

Community Education

Place-based learning through art on housing, food, climate, and spatial justice

02

Healing Workshops

Low-pressure sessions using movement, art, and ancestral practice to restore imagination

03

Story Circles

Guided rituals where lived experience becomes community knowledge and civic evidence

04

Collaborative Builds

Murals, altars, and installations made together — reclaiming public space and making the movement visible

PUBLIC ART AS CITY INFRASTRUCTURE

Culturama treats public art not as decoration but as infrastructure for a future city — pieces that serve communities the way parks, transit, and libraries do. Each work is a wish, a prototype, a proof that the city we need is already being built.

Black Student Achievement Program

HILLCREST ELEMENTARY

The origin. Spring 2025.

A four-session residency with K–2 students at Hillcrest Elementary in Los Angeles — four classrooms including special needs and behavioral support. Students used mosaic art templates to explore culture, belonging, and what a caring neighborhood looks like.

The program generated the Age-Group Framework that now guides all Culturama activations.

Each Culturama project is a social art experiment in togetherness. We are building a vision of the San Fernando Valley from the ground up — from the stories, murals, soundscapes, and imagination of the people who actually live here — toward a civic debut at the 2028 LA Olympics.
