At the entrance to North Hollywood High School's new Performing Arts Center auditorium, a portrait of composer John Williams looks out across the wall he now shares with the students who will pass beneath it for decades to come.

Williams is an alum of the school, and this mural is 11:11 Projects' tribute to him and to the students carrying his legacy forward. The project began with lead artist Anthroe photographing young musicians on campus, capturing them with their instruments. Those photographs became the foundation of the final design, weaving current students into a portrait of the composer who once walked these same halls. Once the design was finalized, it was transferred to the wall using the pounce method, a technique that maps a design at true scale through hundreds of small perforations before a single brushstroke is applied.What makes this mural unusual is its vantage point. Most murals are seen from a distance, across a street or a parking lot. This one sits at eye level, at an entrance students will walk past every day. Anthroe treated the full 70 feet like a painting on canvas: highly detailed, painted slowly, built to hold up to a close look rather than a passing glance.Tatiana, an apprentice with 11:11 Projects, worked alongside Anthroe throughout the project, gaining hands-on experience in tools, technique, and scale, the kind of mentorship 11:11 builds into every mural it produces. This mural is a gift to the students of North Hollywood High School, and to every future musician who will walk past it on their way to the stage.
